It's the Most Spooky Time of the Year, and I Love It!
Fall is finally here! It's starting to cool down (even here in Tucson), PSLs are back, and it's no longer frowned upon to wear leggings for the next SIX MONTHS. Isn't fall the greatest?
My favorite part is everything you can do for Halloween. There are haunted houses, pumpkin patches, and of course, decorating! If you're anything like me though, you don't have the time, money (or effort) to make your house look like this.
So, lets begin with Cindy's ways in which she makes her house look festive without breaking the bank or expending any energy. There are only three.
1. Put Something On Your Door
Remember staying at grandma's when you were little and she ALWAYS had something on her front door regardless of the season? Yeah, that's us now. When you have something on your door, everyone assumes you're festive, even if you're not. Heck, you could stop right there! But we're going to keep going. I get my door decor from places like Michaels (#couponsgalore), Goodwill and thrift shops. I don't plan on finding these things, but when they're less than $10 I can't say no. And now my future husband and I have something for our front door!
2. Decorate Your Bookshelf
If you don't have a bookshelf you should really get your life together. I'm joking! But they're only like $20 at Target and they really do help make an apartment look like someone lives in it. I think I might have spent $30 on mine. Total steal! Anyway, load that bad boy up with some orange, purple and black items and you look like you care and could possibly be an interior decorator. I load my bookshelf with ghost toys I've found during the years as well as candles (unlit, it's a bookshelf with paper and books and stuff on it) and a couple of Halloween Mickey plushes I've collected. As we continue to adult, we seem to collect all sorts of random things. Keep those things in a closet somewhere for moments like these.
3. Put Stuff On a Table
This is the one that really makes you look like you know what you're doing. Place a pumpkin in the middle of the kitchen table. It's as easy as that. You only need one big decoration to go in the middle. I use this wicker basket that a friend gave me and fill it up with candy. Now I'm festive and there's candy in the house! Win Win for me!
Extra Credit
If you really want to go overboard you can purchase small things that are still inexpensive and get the point across that you are indeed in the Halloween spirit.
Need some ideas? Try these:
These coasters are the perfect addition to your home decor! They protect your furniture (wouldn't grandma be proud??) and they're festive!
And there you have it! A decorated apartment! What do you do to decorate during the holidays?
None of the advertisements in this blog post were paid for. I just really like Target and Michaels. However, you can visit Casero By Cindy to purchase those coasters if you wish.
Happy Haunting!
